Dieu dit que la lumière soit et la lumière fût. Il dit aussi que Les Odascieux soit et Les Odascieux fût.

Un soir de septembre, la famille Jean-Louis était réunie chez Michel, un des 5 frères, dans le but de fêter l’anniversaire de leur soeur aînée. Pour la circonstance et pour rendre la surprise plus grande, ils avaient invité ses amis de Montréal, de New-York et des environs à son insu. Avec l’aide de son époux qui a su garder le secret, elle n’a rien su avant son arrivée chez Michel pour la fête. Le sous-sol était bondé, l’atmosphère agréable, l’émotion palpable. Après les discours de retrouvailles, d’échanges de souhaits, des blagues de l’humoriste Jean, des chants, de la bouffe et de l’alcool, vint le tour des 5 frères.

Michel, le frère aîné, brandit son saxophone, accompagné de son ami Chancy. Jean, le 2e frère prit sa guitare, Coucoul, le 3e frère la guitare électrique , Gardy le 4e frère la batterie et Eddy le 5e frère le tambour. Les amis Patrick et Charlot leur guitare. Nèg Mòn présent à l’époque. Ils ont donné le plus beau des concerts. Les gens étaient heureux. Ils n’en revenaient pas. Les gars, vous êtes bons, disent-ils. Depuis quand jouez-vous? Ne lâchez pas. Vous êtes audacieux. Vous formez un beau groupe. Avez-vous déjà trouvé un nom pour votre groupe? cria clairement Raymonde dans l’assistance. Non ma chère, cela fait longtemps que nous cherchons. Tu viens de le trouver sans le savoir. Ainsi naquit Les Odascieux dans la joie. Cela fait bientôt 4 ans. Depuis, Les Odascieux fait son chemin. Nous sommes 5 frères passionnés. Nous aimons notre public, nous le respectons. Notre but: amuser ce public, lui procurer de la joie. Nous jouons la musique avec amour. Nous nous attendons à ce que notre audace nous mène loin. Nous travaillons en conséquence. Si tu n’as pas d’audace, mon frère, tu n’iras nulle part. Au fil des jours, nous avons perdu quelques amis mais d’autres se sont joints à nous. L’équipe est solide. Les 5 frères jouent les mêmes instruments et s’améliorent de jour en jour, entourés de vrais amis.

God said let there be light and there was light. He said the same for Les OdasCieux, and we also came to be.

One late evening in September, the Jean-Louis family was reunited for a surprise party at their eldest brother’s house in order to celebrate their sister’s birthday. To make the surprise greater, they had invited her friends from Montreal, New York, and the surrounding areas without her knowledge. With the help of her husband, she knew nothing before her arrival for the party. The basement was crowded, the atmosphere was pleasant and the emotion palpable. After the speeches of reunion, exchanges of wishes, jokes from the humorist brother Jean, songs, food and alcohol, came the turn of the 5 brothers.

Michel, the eldest brother, brandished his saxophone, accompanied by his friend Chancy. Jean, the 2nd brother took his guitar. Michel-Ange the 3rd brother, acquired his bass guitar, Gardy the 4th brother the drums and Eddy the 5th brother the tam-tams. Friends Patrick and Charlot collected their electric guitars as well. Together, they gave the most beautiful of concerts. The guests were elated, they could not believe their ears.

“Guys, you are great!” they exclaimed. “How long have you been playing? Donot give up. You form an exquisite group. Have you found a name yet? You are audacious” Raymonde shouted clearly in the audience. No, my friend, we’ve been looking for quite some time, and it seems you’ve just found it without knowing. Given that we brothers are of Haitian origin, we thought that the name should be written in a way that would represent our languages, Creyol (Haitian)l and French, are represented. Thus was born Les OdasCieux. A name translating to “audacious” in the group’s native tongues. It has been 4 years since that eventful evening.

Thereafter, Les OdasCieux has made its way. We are 5 passionate brothers who love music and respect our audience. Our aim is to entertain the public, and spread joy with every song we play. With dedication and hard work, we expect our audacity to take us far. If you have no audacity, my friend, you will not make it anywhere. As time passed, we lost a few friends but others joined us. We play our instruments with glee and improve each day, surrounded by laughter. Come join in on the fun!
